Asthma & COPD Clinic We offer appointments with our asthma specialist nurses for monitoring symptom control and medication together with support and advice on management according to individual needs. All asthma patients are advised to see the practice nurse for an annual review.
Blood If your doctor or nurse has requested you have a blood test we run a clinic every morning. We offer the first appointments to those patients who are having fasting bloods. Fasting bloods mean you cannot eat or drink, except plenty of water, for 12 hours before your blood test. If you do, then this could produce an inaccurate result necessitating a retest. All blood samples are taken in the morning so they can be collected at 13:00. and taken to the laboratory at East Surrey Hospital - this is also the case for urine, stool and sputum samples.
Counselling & CBTA counselling service is available at Brockwood Medical Practice, provided by Dorking Healthcare and funded by the NHS. Access is by referral from your doctor. The service provides for up to six sessions (each 50 minutes) of individual counselling for adults, not couple, child or family work. Referrals may be made for a variety of issues, including relationship problems, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress at work, loss of confidence, bereavement, family break-up, trauma, adjustment to physical ill-health, pressures of caring. Please speak to your doctor or practice nurse if you wish to be referred.
Once the referral for counselling has been received, you will be sent an opt-in letter explaining the times it is available, and how the initial appointment will be set up. Appointments are available at specific times, within normal surgery hours, Monday to Friday, at North Holmwood and Brockham Surgeries.
There will be some conditions for which CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) may be the recommended treatment, for example anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder or moderate to severe depression. In these cases you may be referred directly to a specialist CBT service provider, self-help resources may be suggested, or a CBT approach may be incorporated within counselling.
There are four qualified counsellors working at Brockwood: Fiona Spencer (Counselling Service Coordinator), Vicky Cruz, Ailsa Taylor and Kim Oakley. There may in addition be therapists in training attached to the service.

If you would like travel advice contact the surgery and leave a telephone message for a nurse to phone you back. The nurse will discuss with you over the telephone where you are travelling to and what vaccinations are required. She will then book an apointment for you to attend the surgery to have the vaccintions.
There is a £10 charge for a travel certificate and for any travel vaccinations that are not available free on the NHS.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. Some vaccines have to be ordered as they are not kept in stock. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS. Click here for a list of our current travel clinic fees.
